Description: This handsome, leggy boy is Astro. Astro started his life on the side of a busy highway in Alabama narrowly avoiding cars and when someone stopped he was thrilled to jump to safety in their car! He is an absolutely fabulous pooch and his foster has done so much training with him. He walks wonderfully on the leash with a gentle leader, knows basic commands (sit, down, stay, crawl), and is housetrained and crates well. He is excellent with dogs and lives with them. He loves to play! He was previously fostered with kids and did fabulously too. Astro lived with cats in his Alabama foster home and he was curious and playful but both his foster and the cats would correct him for thinking the cats wanted to play and he learned to leave them alone. If he is placed with cats he would be best with dog-savvy cats and someone willing to correct his behavior off the bat and remind him that cats are not playmates. He loved water and the kiddie pools in the southern warm weather and we're sure he'll be thrilled about the MN snow too. He is a great blend of energy and playful puppy but with a lot of sense and the ability to relax as well. He is about 70 lbs and 10 months old so still growing and expected to be about 85-90 lbs once he fills out. He's in a lanky, all legs stage currently! Description: Fendi is a uniquely colored bi colored eye girl who isn't just a pretty face. Nope, this sweetheart also has a great personality and some training under her belt! She is housetrained (though with any dog expect accidents as she transitions), crates well, and minds her manners in the house. She adores people of all ages though the little ones might get bumped over from her playful nature. She has the energy you would expect from a husky and a pittie so needs daily outlets for her energy—walks/runs, playtime, training, etc. Fendi was well known in a local impound for her frequent visits. We aren't sure if she is an escape artist or if her frequent trips out of her house were due to n o fault of her own but just in case she will need a securely fenced yard or an owner committed to leashing her (not tie-out) when outside in an unfenced area. She is good with other large breed playful dogs but is a bit too pushy in play and too much for bossy dogs or for smaller dogs. She cannot go to a home with cats or small animals. Fendi is super smart and loves to learn things. She knows how to sit, shake, and lay down. Her leash manners could use a bit of work but even with just a few training sessions she is picking up loose leash walking like an absolute champ. Description: Flicker is an almost 3-year-old neutered Border Collie (3/31/22) that has been living with me since May of 2023. When I first got Flicker, he hadn't had the greatest start to life and had a lot to learn. I never intended to keep him, but have been lax on attempting to place him as I was strung along by several "interested" parties and ghosted more than once, so put placing him on the back burner. He's easy, happy and healthy here, but I do believe there is a better home out there for him that will allow him to really flourish. Flicker has participated in UpDog, FastCAT, CAT and has started dock diving foundations and is jumping off the dock for toys. He has not actually competed in dock diving yet, but I hope he will at some point in the near future. Flicker did have several months of flyball foundations summer/fall 2023 and picked them up quickly and seemed to enjoy it, so I would think he could relearn those skills and be a successful flyball dog should his handler choose. Flicker has his BCAT, CA, CGC & FTN- although I have not submitted the latter 3 to AKC for official display on his Canine Partners registration. Flicker LOVES fetch- whether it be a ball or frisbee, he will gladly retrieve it for you. I am not a Border Collie person and I believe our lack of success at disc events lies solely on me - he has played UpDog games with pro handlers and has placed in pro division games with them. He and I just don't jive super well and we are not that successful as a team, so I make it a point to go out and have a great time, even if we suck scoring wise He is easy to hand off to play for other people at events. He has lots of disc "aunties" who play rounds with him. Flicker is a typical soft BC, and he needs very minimal correction, if at all. A slightly raised voice usually is enough to stop what he is doing. He lives to worship his person. He knows sit, down, kennel, stay, around, out & place. He has lived with a variety of dogs- including intact males and bossy female APBT and numerous fosters. He has tagged the other dogs while running in the yard, but indoors ignores them for the most part. He does live with cats, but I truly believe a home without cats would be beneficial as he does feel a need to stare and try to herd them any time he is around them, which makes it difficult for him to relax. Even on place, he will not take his eyes off of them. I would prefer he go to a home without cats but that is not a deal breaker with a savvy handler. Flicker had OFAs done for hips (excellent), patellas (normal) and elbows (normal) for my own peace of mind as I got him as a rescue and did not know anything of his lineage / possible structural issues he may have. As far as health goes, he's been great here. He is 43-45lbs and has gotten clean bills of health since I've had him. I have not noticed any food sensitivities. He is also fantastic for all grooming procedures and has never shown any issues with handling. Flicker's one "downfall" is he will go through periods of seemingly forgetting what being housebroken is. He will go months at a time clean in the crate and indoors, not a single accident, and then all of a sudden will have a stint of approx. 2-4 weeks of regular accidents (both urine and feces) and he does not seem to care about whether or not he lays in it etc. It is not a UTI, I think it is behavioral. I am confident an indoor/outdoor setup would solve this issue. It is also entirely possible he would be fine in a home with less stimulus- as I believe that may play a factor in this behavior as well. Flicker crates well (barring the stints of accidents) and crates nicely in the car. He has been environmentally stable everywhere he has gone with me. I am not pressed to move him, he can stay as long as needed. I have debated this over and over for the past year and a half but I truly believe there is a home out there that loves the breed and would cherish him. I admittedly have struggled to bond with him, and that is not his fault at all. He's a great dog, I just have a background in bull breeds ... Which is a lot different from a herdy one. I am asking a reasonable rehoming fee and will send his crate tag, rosettes and flat ribbons, title certs, vet records, collars/tag, sport stickers etc with him. I really would like to see him go to a sport home, he makes a lovely entry level sport dog but also has shown that he is capable of performing at a higher level with a handler that understands the breed. However, I am open to considering an active pet home as well.

He loves other dogs and wants to play with everyone, tried to chase the cat but when it turned around at him he did back off though probably best with cats who are dog-savvy and willing to stand up for themselves. He is working on his housetraining, crates well for the workday and overnight, and is learning all the important puppy things. He is expected to be a large or extra large dog as an adult. He is a typical puppy so a forever home should prepare for all the puppy fun, socialization, training, and everything takes to make a puppy into the best dog they can be. Muttley loves his walks and playtime but does settle nicely in the house as well. He came into the shelter incredibly matted so needed to be shaved down. Rudy loves other dogs and is thrilled to play with them. He met a cat in passing and didn’t show any interest in them but has not to our knowledge lived with them. Description: Rusty is a middle-aged Lab/Pit Bull mix who does not understand how he landed himself in the shelter. Quite frankly, we don’t either. This guy is wonderful! At about 7 years old he is well past the crazy puppy stages and settled into being a well-mannered, housetrained, cratetrained but doesn’t need it and prefers to be loose in the house, easy to live with type guy. He absolutely loves to go for walks and when you pull his leash out he turns right back into a puppy with excitement. He walks well on the leash after an initial bout of excitement pulling and knows basic commands. Rusty has lived with dogs and cats and does well with all. He is loving and friendly to all people. We can’t say enough good things about Rusty. He isn’t flashy in looks, he isn’t a cute little puppy anymore, but he’s got years and years of experience being a good boy to share with a forever home.

Scotch is a young guy at about a year so his obedience is a work in progress and his leash manners do leave a bit to be desired if we are being honest but he is super food motivated and responsive to training. He is housetrained, crates nicely for the workday, and as long as he’s had some energy burnt out of him and there’s appropriate chews around he minds his manners in the house. If he can’t find anything else or he’s feeling a bit cooped up, sometimes a shoe will make it’s way from by the door to somewhere else but Scotch has it on good authority that shoes are known to walk themselves places at times and he definitely didn’t have anything to do with it. Description: Stuffy is a husky/Pomeranian who is everything a Pomsky should be—good, bad, and everything in between. If you like a dog with lots of personality, mischief, and sass then you will love Stuffy. If you want a quiet, mellow dog who always minds and never talks back then Stuffy is not for you. She is heavy on the husky in looks but in a smaller, petite package. Stuffy adores other dogs and loves to play with them. She is a bit pushy in play and overwhelming to calm dogs because she doesn’t take no for an answer—because who wouldn’t want to play with her? For a playful dog she is a best friend since she can go on and on running and wrestling. Stuffy adores people and is tolerant of everything. She frequently gets picked up to get put in her kennel and doesn’t even mind “air jail”. Will she tell you her opinions of being locked up…absolutely. Stuffy is not for apartments or shared walls unless your neighbors too would like to hear her opinions shouted. She is housetrained, crates for the workday, and does mind her manners in the house as best as her little mischievous self can—she doesn’t know how the trash can got tipped over or why the barbie doesn’t have feet anymore but definitely probably was not her ;). Stuffy will bring so much love, happy chaos, and fun to any house lucky enough to choose her.

Breed: Belgian Tervuren/ Dutch Shepherd Mix
Age: Young Adult

Description: A pretty face and legs up to here, Tarot has all the makings of a model. He doesn't have a big head about it though! This humble guy came into a local impound after suffering a horrific injury at the hands of someone who had just purchased him in the days prior. He has spent the last few months healing and his wound is almost fully healed and he is nearly ready to find his forever home! He is an absolute love. He had endless patience with all the bandage changes, the cone wearing, and the vet visits. He didn't enjoy the short term restricted activity though! Thankfully it was only a week and he was cleared to be his playful self. This guy is the energy level you'd expect from his breeds and needs an active home who can tire him out mentally and physically. He is smart, he loves to work out puzzle and food toys, and is an excellent walking/jogging partner. He is quite the water dog as well! He is excellent with dogs and likes to play with them though equally loves his humans and would be happy in a home with or without another dog. He is housetrained and crates well but prefers to be in a dog-proofed area rather than a crate when alone. He is gated in the hallway with a bone and dog bed at his foster home and he does much better with that than in the crate

Description: Tic-Tac-Taco is a 3 month old chubby bully pup. He was found at an evicted property, presumably left behind, and was thrilled beyond belief to see the officers that came to get him. They were his new best friends. Everyone is in fact! Tic-Tac-Taco loves people, loves other dogs, tries to play with the cats and learned quickly that was a big no thank you on their part, and just loves life. He is working on his housetraining, crates well for the workday and overnight, and is learning all the important puppy things. He is expected to be a large dog as an adult. He is a typical puppy so a forever home should prepare for all the puppy fun, socialization, training, and everything takes to make a puppy into the best dog they can be. We highly recommend training classes to set everyone up for success.

Description: Tinky Winky is a young Poodle/ Maltese mix, about 8 months old who is a little bit shyer and seems to have lacked a lot of life experiences so far. Despite being thrown into a high stress shelter environment and completely pelted to the skin matted, Tinky handled it with nothing but sweetness and a gentle nature. She is good with other dogs though the big ones do scare her a bit, fine with cats, and loves people. She’ll belly crawl gently up to you for some love and just melt into you. Tinky is learning how fun toys are and starting to let her guard down more to play. She is doing well on her housetraining and crates well for the workday. She does not appear to shed so will need a home committed to grooming every 6-8 weeks as well as frequent brushing.

Wicket is good with other dogs, currently unknown with cats, and great with all people. He is housetrained, crates nicely for the workday, and minds his manners. Wicket knows some basics already and is a sponge to learn more. He is about 3 years old.

Description: Zeke is a 4 year old, 70 lb Lab/Cur mix (best guessed) who finds himself looking for a new home due to no fault of his own. The existing dog in the home is not adjusting to having a brother and his current family has made the heartbreaking decision that it is better for everyone for him to find a new home. He has been loved and trained by them in the 3 months he has lived with them and is housetrained, crates well, and knows basic commands. Zeke is great with other dogs and loves all people. He has not lived with kids but has been friendly out and about. He is an easy to live with and easy to love guy. We can’t say enough good things about him!
