Foster Homes Needed!

Are you looking at all these adorable faces and wishing you could take them all home? Have you ever considered fostering?!

Fostering is a great way to help us and the dogs out, and it can be as short or long term as you'd like! We work with you to make sure you get a dog you will enjoy, and we also strive to make sure it's as easy of a process as we can make it.

Taking home a new dog is never flawless... they will have accidents, they will bark in the crate, they are stressed and high energy the first few days making you question why you chose to do this. Hang in there with them, and it pays off. Usually within 3 days they settle in. We work to find a dog that is a good fit for what traits you are seeking in a foster dog.

Adoption events are optional, however, we do require fosters to attend the event when they need to get supplies and to let us know beforehand so we can bring them there to pick up. Fostering requires you to commit to training, exercising, and care for the dog. It can be anywhere from 1 week-several months, depending on the dog. The average period of time is 2-3 weeks. We provide the food and crate, and vet visits when pre-approved by us beforehand. We do not cover vet bills we did not approve ahead of time.

If the dog is not working out, we require a 3 day minimum notice to find a new place. The more time the better, please. We do have back up fosters for things like emergencies, planned trips, etc. It's a great thing to do for a dog. It quite honestly means the difference between life and death...

We highly recommend you read the following packet to help answer your questions about fostering: Fostering 101

Thank you for considering opening your home to a dog in need!

Name: Bugs Buddy
Breed: Yellow Lab Cross
Age: Young Adult
Gender: Male
Description: Bugs Buddy is a 1 year old Lab mix, a very outgoing dog who would be thrilled to death to find a home with another playful dog. He absolutely loves people, but he is in his element playing chase and wrestling outside in the yard with other dogs. Bugs Buddy makes friends very easily with other dogs, and sure loves kids as well. Previously an outside dog, he is picking up the house training and is crated when left alone. He is smart, needs more training time but responds well, and would do best in a home with yard space or land and another dog to play with. His ideal adopter would also believe in obedience training and the benefits of it for a smart, high energy, outgoing dog.

Name: Clark
Breed: Pit Bull/ Shepherd Cross
Age: Young Adult
Gender: Male
Description: Clark is a mixed up mutt whose initial shyness hides an incredibly loyal, loving companion.  He is slow to warm up to people, nervous in new social situations, but when he's in his element at home he is a silly, fun-loving, loyal, snuggle buddy.  Clark has been bounced around a lot in his short life and he needs a home that will show him some stability and build his confidence up.  He is never mean, never nippy, just nervous.  He feeds off a confident owner.  If you are confident about something, he bravely puts on a confident face.  If you are nervous, then he acts more nervous and insecure.  He is tolerant of other dogs but gets a little insecure around really bossy males so best with more submissive males, females of any demeanor, or as an only dog.  He is much more of a people dog than anything.  He is not known with cats.  Given his shy nature he would be best in an older child/adult home.  Clark is well housetrained and reliable left loose for the workday (he prefers being left loose to a crate).  Clark is not a dog who shows well at a first meeting...he clings to his foster family and ignores the new people but for someone willing to take him home, give him a few weeks to adjust, he will be their new best friend.

Requirements: Adopter must own home due to breed mix. Older child/adult home.

Name: Donnie
Breed: Black Lab Cross
Age: Young Adult
Gender: Male
Description: Donnie is a medium size ( 40 pounds) male Lab mix, about a year old. This poor dog has spent months in the shelter down south waiting to be noticed, and because he's not obnoxiously leaping at the kennel door, and is a quieter black dog, he blends into the background there. He does have some energy and needs playtime and walks, is very friendly and outgoing. He's never in a bad mood, and loves meeting new dog and people friends. Likely an outside dog before, he is learning the house training, is crated for the workday, and practicing leash manners. Sometimes his joy at meeting new people takes over and he pulls and jumps. He's got a sweet personality and is so much fun. Wth training and exercise he's going to make a perfect family dog.

Name: Souli
Breed: Husky/ Shepherd
Age: Adult
Gender: Female
Description: Souli is an adult ( 5-6 years) female Husky/Shepherd mix girl, has an old eye injury that doesn't slow her down at all. Rescued as a stray, she clearly doesn't want that experience again, and prides herself on sticking to your heels. That being said, the Husky in her means she would do best with a fenced yard or being leashed outside. She is house trained, crate trained, excellent with kids and other dogs. We are finding out about cats. This beautiful dog so badly wants her own home and family.

Name: Tuck
Breed: Black Lab Cross
Age: Young Adult
Gender: Male
Description: Tuck is a young adult male Lab mix, found trying to pick his own home on the side of the road... he sat so patiently, holding up a paw to cars cruising past. Nobody stopped except the dog catcher, so he landed in the pound. There, his huge affection for all people but men especially won over animal control, and they started looking for rescue. He absolutely loves the other dogs in dog daycare, and stands by the door so he can greet all the people and dogs coming through. Tuck is learning the house training, does well crated, and loves to be with his people. He must have been a man's dog, because while he likes women and kids fine, it's men he's most drawn to. He does need more training, but he's a smart dog and learns quickly. Tuck is available December 9th.

Name: Zula
Breed: Shepherd Cross
Age: Young Adult
Gender: Female
Description: Zula is a young adult female Shepherd mix who is out for a good time, and to make new friends. This happy dog greets total strangers like long lost friends, and is a very well balanced, social, outgoing dog. She adores kids and enjoys chase and play with them. Zula also likes other dogs, but is a bit of a bossy player with them, so would enjoy a home with a dog who doesn't challenge play, someone to play run/chase and wrestle with, or a home as an only dog. She enjoys meeting new dogs out and about on walks and at the park. Zula does chase cats, so a home with no cats is ideal. She's house trained and crate trained already, knows some simple commands. Our favorite is that when she sits, she automatically offers a paw. Zula is a high energy, active dog and needs a home with yard space to run in as well as an adopter to continue training and exercising with her. This is a dog with so much potential.

Requirements: No cats
