Foster Homes Needed!

Are you looking at all these adorable faces and wishing you could take them all home? Have you ever considered fostering?!

Fostering is a great way to help us and the dogs out, and it can be as short or long term as you'd like! We work with you to make sure you get a dog you will enjoy, and we also strive to make sure it's as easy of a process as we can make it.

Taking home a new dog is never flawless... they will have accidents, they will bark in the crate, they are stressed and high energy the first few days making you question why you chose to do this. Hang in there with them, and it pays off. Usually within 3 days they settle in. We work to find a dog that is a good fit for what traits you are seeking in a foster dog.

Fostering requires you to commit to training, exercising, and care for the dog. It can be anywhere from 1 week-several months, depending on the dog. The average period of time is 2-3 weeks. We provide the food and crate, and vet visits when pre-approved by us beforehand. We do not cover vet bills we did not approve ahead of time.

If the dog is not working out, we require a 5 day minimum notice to find a new place. The more time the better, please. We do have back up fosters for things like emergencies, planned trips, etc. It's a great thing to do for a dog. It quite honestly means the difference between life and death.

Name: Eddie Munster

Description: Eddie Munster is a blocky headed softie who wants nothing more than a home of his own. He is miserable in the shelter and so sad to be alone. He has the sweetest heart you’ll ever meet and spreads love wherever he goes. He loves people and absolutely melts in for attention. Lap dog he is not but don’t tell him that! He is great with other dogs and when the cat smacked out at him he cried and hid behind his handler. Eddie is a sensitive soul through and through. He is housetrained, crates well, and minds his manners so well. We can’t say enough good about him. Eddie is about 75 lbs, 4 years old

Description: Jenga is a medium sized Lab mix found as a stray with his siblings and no one reclaimed them. He is a young guy at about a year old and 50 lbs close to fully grown (may fill out a bit). He is a friendly boy if not a little shyer at first but talk sweet to him and he’ll belly crawl behind you to the ends of the earth. He loves people and attention so much. He is great with other dogs and would love a home with another confident dog but he adjusts just fine without as well. He crates well for the workday, housetrained on a routine in his foster home, and minds his manners in the house as well as any young Lab can. Jenga loves to chew on bones and carry toys around. He would love nothing more than to spend the holidays in his forever home with a family to love.

Description: Maeve is an 8 year old petite Aussie (mix?). She has it all—brains, beauty, and personality! She is housetrained, crates well, minds her manners in the house like the lady she is, and is medium energy though still plenty of spunk to pep up for walks and to toss toys around! Maeve is excellent with other dogs, doesn’t mind the cats, and loves all people. She is about 35 lbs fully grown and the perfect size to curl up on your couch next to you.

Name: Muttley Chew
Breed: Poodle Mix

Description: Muttley Chew is a poodle/doodle type mix, about 10 months old. He is all puppy, all fun, and all happy about life. He may not be a famous rock band like his name suggests but he is famous at the dog park for making friends, famous around the neighborhood for his full body wiggles meeting everyone. He is housetrained with an adjustment period, crates well for the workday though can be vocal in there if he can hear you because he wants to be out with you, and has good house manners minus the occasional kids’ toy being moved but he says you can’t prove it was him, haven’t you ever seen Toy Story? Muttley loves his walks and playtime but does settle nicely in the house as well. He came into the shelter incredibly matted so needed to be shaved down. His forever home needs to be committed to providing for his grooming needs including shaving/haircuts every 6-8 weeks and weekly brushing to prevent mats.

Description: Plonker is a big boy with a big head and a big heart. He isn’t the sharpest tack and really embodies the joke “big head, no thoughts” but he makes up for it in heart. Plonker is friendly to everyone, goofy, loves butt scratches, and loves to flop out snoozing with his stumpy back legs behind him like a little frog. He is housetrained (though off the bat will need a belly band since he is a leg lifter), crates well for the workday, and minds his manners in the house. He loves bones and toys, happily waddles all around for walks, and then snores like a freight train relaxing. He is good with other dogs and loves all people though the littler kids get bowled over when he plays because he has no idea he is big. He will shamelessly sit in anyone’s lap! Plonker is about 2 years old.

Description: Princess Consuela Bananahammock is a big name for a tiny girl! She is the sweetest 1 year old Chi/Rat Terrier mix who when she’s excited sits up on her hind legs and waves her front paws at you. It’s one of the cutest things we’ve ever seen! She is a tiny girl, a more gentle little soul who likes to be held, loves to snuggle, and thinks she belongs snuggled in your sweatshirt on cold days. Housetraining is a work in progress…the cold is not helping but she is doing well. She is cratetrained and crates well for the workday and overnight. She is great with other dogs and fine with cats. She has been great with kids she has met but gravitates to the older kids and more predictable, less-grabby ones.

Description: Quill is a 3 year old Aussie/Poodle mix who appears to be heavy on the Aussie with the cute bobbed tail and wiry/wavy longer coat. He is a wigglebutt that loves everyone he meets immediately—adults, kids, dogs, cats, strangers…he loves them all! Quill is housetrained, crates well, and minds his manners in the house. He loves his walks and wiggles with absolute delight when his leash comes out. He settles nicely as well and is happy to snooze by your feet while you work. He appears to shed some so will need a home committed to brushing and grooming just like with any doodle but also who understands he does shed so a home with allergies may not be the best choice.

Description: Shimmy is an 8 month old Border Collie mix who loves to play, loves walks, loves dogs, and absolutely leaps with joy for the slightest bit of attention. If you are looking for a go-go-go best friend she is it! Shimmy does great with other dogs and is curious but good with the cats though she thinks they might want to play with her sometimes! She is doing well on her housetraining, crates well for the workday, and is learning her basic commands and all the things she needs to know to be the best girl she can be. Shimmy is smart and loves nothing more than using her brain and figuring things out. While she is an energetic girl and needs an outlet for that, she does also know how to chill and loves to snuggle! If a social, energetic girl with a heart of gold is what your life is missing, Shimmy wants to meet you!

Description: Smeargle is a 7 month old lanky Lab mix with giant ears that look like he could fly. He can’t fly but his ears are excellent for petting and whispering secrets into. Like a good best friend he won’t tell those secrets either. Smeargle can confirm he is an excellent secret keeper. In fact he is such a good secret keeper he isn’t telling who stole the loaf of bread off the counter, him or his foster brother though we suspect this might be less about secret keeping and more about pleading the fifth. Smeargle is a loveable goofball. He loves to play with toys, loves to play with other dogs, and is interested but respectful of the cats and when one smacked him he wanted nothing more to do with it. He is finishing up learning the housetraining and crates well for the workday. He loves walks and playtime and is looking for an active home that wants to include him in all sorts of fun times.

Description: Tinky Winky is a young Poodle/ Maltese mix, about 8 months old who is a little bit shyer and seems to have lacked a lot of life experiences so far. Despite being thrown into a high stress shelter environment and completely pelted to the skin matted, Tinky handled it with nothing but sweetness and a gentle nature. She is good with other dogs though the big ones do scare her a bit, fine with cats, and loves people. She’ll belly crawl gently up to you for some love and just melt into you. Tinky is learning how fun toys are and starting to let her guard down more to play. She is doing well on her housetraining and crates well for the workday. She does not appear to shed so will need a home committed to grooming every 6-8 weeks as well as frequent brushing.

Description: Zeke is a 4 year old, 70 lb Lab/Cur mix (best guessed) who finds himself looking for a new home due to no fault of his own. The existing dog in the home is not adjusting to having a brother and his current family has made the heartbreaking decision that it is better for everyone for him to find a new home. He has been loved and trained by them in the 3 months he has lived with them and is housetrained, crates well, and knows basic commands. Zeke is great with other dogs and loves all people. He has not lived with kids but has been friendly out and about. He is an easy to live with and easy to love guy. We can’t say enough good things about him!
